Driven to Crime by Crispian Besley – EVRO Publishing

True stories of wrongdoing in motor racing

ISBN: 9781910505700

I was first contacted and interviewed by the author around three years ago and was fascinated to see that his book, Driven to Crime, had finally been published, and especially pleased to see that my true story was one of the sixty-six cases investigated and included in this new book.

The need to distill a very complex case to people that sometimes have little or no knowledge of the sport or the complex legal events that happened has always hampered my fight to tell the true story of what occurred.  Crispian Besley achieves this where others failed, perhaps considering it risky to offer any alternative opinion and considering a more pragmatic approach sensible…  the sensitive legal issues handled in a more practical than factual way, allowing for such considerations as reputations to be maintained?  Those important persons, in elevated positions of authority, were always granted immunity to continue sleeping well at night, thanks to such considerations!

As Sir Winston Churchill once said: “History is Written by the Victors” –  Thank you, Crispian Besley, for taking the time to actually investigate and, after 30-plus years of official misinformation, publishing the true history!

SYNOPSIS: People lie, cheat, steal and even kill for a variety of reasons, one of which is to go motor racing, a particularly expensive and egotistical sport. This intriguing book, the result of years of research, encompasses not just those who have been ‘driven to crime’ in order to pay for their sport but also characters within motor racing who have been involved in wrongdoing, sometimes through no fault of their own.  Over 60 true stories cover webs of deceit and numerous crimes including drug trafficking, corruption, embezzlement, robbery, fraud, murder, and money laundering. The author investigates misdemeanours at all levels, from drivers, designers, and mechanics to team owners, entrants, and sponsors.
